Good morning, from South India!
Below this message Harold has posted information about the East Kerala Diocese. We continue to be impressed with their ministry and their passion for the poor. We have learned that this diocese is comprised almost completely of a caste which they call "tribals". These people find their heritage along the mountain ranges of the western Ghats. We are also continually struck by the joyful expressions on everyone's face as they go about their daily lives. This is truly a happy society and causes us to wonder why we don't see more joy in our own society where we have so many more comforts and priviledges.

We are currently preparing for the annual gathering of the entire diocese here at the cathedral. We expect over 2000 people in attendance for 8 days. Harold has been asked to preach the opening sermon this Sunday. And Donna has been asked to share music throughout the convention. Everyone will gather under tents in front of the cathedral. It was interesting to attend the last planning meeting and to follow the animated discussion about how they will feed everyone. It sounded so very familiar even in a different language.

Above this we are posting photographs from this past week including another confirmation service, the warm greeting we received as we arrived and the elephant we met on our way home! We are also posting a few pictures of the cathedral and of the polio home the church built on the cathedral grounds about 10 years ago.
